The Romanesque House
Rosheim
Description
The Maison Romane, built in 1154, is one of the oldest examples of medieval civil architecture in Alsace. Its square floor plan, rusticated sandstone and small openings give it the appearance of a fortified tower, reminiscent of the castles of the Middle Ages. Listed as a historic monument since 1922 and restored in 2000-2001, the Maison Romane welcomes you by appointment to tell you all about its origins and life at the time it was built...
Open by appointment only.
