Description
The Pagan Wall is one of the most mysterious sites in Alsace. The very date of construction of this strange wall is open to debate.
According to recent archaeological research, the wall dates back to the 6th and 7th centuries, at the time of the powerful family of the Dukes of Alsace, who wanted to assert their power over the region in a visible way around their place of residence.
The fact remains that the Wall exudes a strange atmosphere. It's hard not to be enchanted by this fantastic place, where a curious interplay of light and shadow blends into one.
The Pagan Wall stretches for almost 11 kilometres across the Mont Sainte-Odile massif. Visitors can enjoy a pleasant walk along the pathway, which is signposted by the Club Vosgien.
