Christmas concert with the Molsheim Men's Choir and the Strasbourg Teachers' Choir
Description
The Choeur d'hommes 1856 (formerly Chorale Sainte Cécile 1856), the oldest of Molsheim's choral societies, has experienced both glorious and painful periods in its 168-year history, with three conflicts putting it to the test. Its repertoire ranges from Romantic to contemporary, from classical to folk, from secular to sacred, enabling it to perform in all circumstances. The male choristers perform wherever the wind blows them, in Alsace, France and abroad.
The second group, the Chorale d'Enseignants de Strasbourg, was founded as a men's choir in 1930 under the name Chorale Strasbourgeoise des Enseignants, and was recreated as a mixed choir after the war in 1945, under the title Chorale Entente Universitaire, Chorenstra.
The choir is open to all adults who enjoy singing a wide variety of repertoire as a group. Its aims are to perpetuate enthusiasm for singing and music, to cultivate the practice of the choral art and to strive ever more for perfection, beauty and harmony, to serve music with dignity and to please its loyal audience!
